Cannon Motorsports Preparing for the Haltech World Cup.

Team Cannon Motorsports is pleased to announce that they will be taking their unique DOHC blown nitro Harley to the up and coming Manufacturers Cup at SGMP in Valdosta Georgia. This trip is the culmination of years of hard work getting the bike to a level at which we feel comfortable to compete on U.S. soil. The bike and rider have made some major personal improvements throughout this year with some record setting 1/8 mile times.

Rider and team owner Chris Hannam has decided to make the massive personal investment to ship the whole operation stateside to continue to build on our seasons work so far. Although we had a major setback at the UEM finals with our clutch exploding, we used this as inspiration to make new parts for the trip, so a new clutch and blower drive are now in the final stages of machining. The bike is at Al Smith’s Fabrication shop for all new stainless exhaust pipes and clutch guards etc in readiness for the full team to reassemble the bike and put it in a crate for shipping. 

The bike will be shipped out on Monday October 8th to Tampa Florida. Once customs clears the container this will be collected and taken to MRE in Safety Harbour, FL. the bike and team will be using MRE’s shop as our basecamp while we are statside. Jasy has graciously offered to transport the bike and team to the track where you will be able to find us on the midway with MRE. Having all these facilities on hand really makes the whole trip possible as without this your back is really up against the wall.

We hope to travel up to the track on Wednesday Novemebr 7th in readiness to test on Thursday to try and dial in the new clutch and fuel system, the whole ethos of this trip is to have fun and try and put that magic 6 sec run back on the boards while racing in front of whole new audience. Also the thought of racing in November when the bike would otherwise be parked is pure adreniline. This will keep us busy and we will not have an off season this year, if all goes well we may go back out in early February to test at Bradenton before attending the season opener of the Manufacturers Cup race next year, this however is subject to funds and not breaking too many parts! 

To make this trip happen I have a lot of people to thank, without you guys this simply would not happen. 

TEAM CANNON: Neil Midgley, Al Smith & Mike Vickers, who all keep this bike running and without you guys I would not even want to go racing period.

MURDOCH RACING ENTERPRISES Again with my long time friend Jay stepping in and offering me the use of all his facilities just makes this big trip that much easier and without it I just could not do this.

This really is shaping up to be a fantastic event with no less than 5 other European teams attending this event so it will be almost like racing at home and I personally can’t wait to race at Valdosta and hopefully put on a good sho .
